Our Rural Modernism network has a new book out soon! New Lives New Landscapes Revisited: Rural Modernity in Britain is an edited collection of essays from a range of contributors. It returns to Nan Fairbrother’s classic 1970 text and considers the longer impact of modern infrastructure on rural landscapes, environment, society and economy in Britain.
I’m one of the editors and have an essay on ‘Non-Outstanding Areas of Natural Beauty’, as well as a contribution in the Introduction. It is edited by Linda Ross, me, Matthew Kelly and Ben Anderson.
It will be published by OUP for the British Academy in June.
