On Wednesday 15 April I was privileged to appear in parliament as an expert witness at the parliamentary joint committee into human rights, at the inquiry on the right to protest.

My colleagues on the panel were two experts on public order law, Prof Geoff Pearson of Manchester University and Dr Richard Martin of the LSE.

Alas, the MPs were called to a division in the Commons, so the committee had to be cut short after 15 minutes, but we continued informally (although not recorded) with the peers.

I will publish a summary of my notes that I prepared for the inquiry, and my notes on the sessions, here.

The first session featured representatives from Liberty, the Quakers, a law firm, and the former chief inspector of constabulary.
